Our colleagues in Turkey have agreed to co-host AicE-Bs 2011 Famagusta. The AiCEBS 2011  Organising Committee meeting was first held in Istanbul, Turkey on 20th April 2010. The following  from Turkey shall co-host the event:-

In the last decades, quality of life has become a central issue for those who plan and study cities or places where people live in response to growing pressures on urban communities, concern about the impacts of urbanisation and the effects of this on the well being of residents.
Today, as the majority of the world's population resides in urban areas, the issue of 'quality of life and environment' has to be explored more systematically through measuring and documenting the environment objectively and as it is experienced by residents. Once it is analysed, measured and documented, there appears the necessity to find ways to increase the quality of life.
The concept of quality of life is also linked to sustainable development such that unless we engage with more sustainable practices the quality of life and environment will be deteriorated.
AicE-Bs 2011 focuses attention on the concept of 'quality of life and environment' and contributes to the debate on the concept of quality of life as a key element of responsive environmental design.

Based on empirical research, AicE-Bs 2011 invites papers on the following key issues:-

Culture and arts
Economy
Education
Healthcare
Housing
Image and identity
Infrastructure and public services
Land use
Natural environment
Recreation and leisure
Safety
